What if the bank account I have connected is closed?
If the bank account Oportun has been saving from has since been closed or can no longer receive deposits, we can send a check for your saved balance in the mail. At this time, we can only mail checks to United States addresses.
Go through steps 1-4 under Removing a connected account.
Before confirming, we will ask if your linked account is still open. Tap No, enter your mailing address, and then confirm.
Can I connect more than one bank account?
Both account types can only save from and move funds to one personal checking account (no business or savings accounts just yet!).
To keep things safe, savings-only accounts are closed-loop systems, meaning funds withdrawn from your savings goals can only be returned to the same checking account they were taken from (or sent to you via check if that account has since been closed).
For now, we recommend linking with your most active bank account (where you get paid or do most of your spending from).
Why do you need my bank login information?
We use Plaid, a trusted and industry-standard data provider, to handle connections between Oportun and your bank.
Plaid locates and connects with your bank using the same information that you would use to sign in to your online banking.
