The Oportun app is available in both English and Spanish. You can adjust the app to one of these two languages within your phone’s settings. Here’s how to do it for iPhone and Android devices:
Changing the Oportun app language on iPhone
Step 1: Add Spanish to your iPhone language settings. If you already have Spanish on your device language settings, skip to step 2.
- Open the Settings app.
- Select General > Language & Region > Add Language.
- Tap Spanish to add it.
- You can choose to change your iPhone entirely to the new language or to keep using your current one. You can keep your current language settings if you only want to change the Oportun app into Spanish. With either option you'll then have the new language as part of your preferred language list.
- If you change your primary language settings, your iPhone will restart and the Oportun app will be displayed in your new primary language setting.
Step 2: Display just the Oportun app in Spanish
Now that you have the extra language enabled, let’s change the language of just the Oportun app on your iPhone:
- Open the Settings app.
- Scroll down and select the Oportun app.
- Tap Language.
- Select the language you want to use.
- Once you're done, exit Settings. Close and reopen the Oportun app and it’ll load in the new language.
Changing the Oportun app language on an Android device
You can change the language for just the Oportun app in your device settings. Note: Some of these steps work only on Android 14 and up.
- On your device, open your Settings app.
- Tap System > Languages > App Languages.
- Select the Oportun app.
- Choose a language.
- Close and reopen the Oportun app and it’ll load in the new language.
If you need more help, check out this article on Android app language settings, including how to change your overall device language. If the Android device is on an older OS version and does not have these options, the member will need to switch their overall device to the new language to see the app in that new language.
