Smart Deposits
What are Smart Deposits?
Smart Deposits are an easy way to automatically add money to your Spending balance from your linked bank account.
With Smart Deposits, your Spending balance has some extra coverage so Oportun can budget for your Bills balance and grow your savings goals.
How do Smart Deposits work?
You can enable Smart Deposits on the details screen for your linked bank account. Then, Oportun will read that account’s balances and activity.
Each week, Oportun will move money from your linked account into your Spending balance based on your upcoming bills in your Bills account and Savings goals deadlines, on top of the info it reads from your linked account.
If you’d like, you can set a minimum balance. Oportun will not move money from your account into Spending if it reads that your linked bank account balance will go below that amount.
How do I turn on/off Smart Deposits?
1) Head to Profile & settings (the person icon in the top-left)
2) Under Funding & payment, choose Connected accounts
3) Tap into your connected checking account
4) Under Smart Deposits, flip the switch to either enable or disable weekly deposits
